George Clooney will be in Viterbo in August to film some scenes of the TV series Catch 22 of which he is going to be the producer, director and actor. The shooting should take place during the second week of August in and around piazza del Plebiscito, piazza della Morte, piazza San Lorenzo, piazza and via San Pellegrino and Via Chigi.
This miniseries will be the second adaptation of the famous novel “Catch 22” written by Joseph Heller and published in 1961, as the first one was made by Mike Nichols in 1970.
The six episode series is set in Italy during World War II and it focuses on Capt. John Yossarian, a US Air Force bombardier who is furious because of the bureaucratic rule known as Catch-22 (according to which a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind; a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions).
Produced by Paramount Television, Anonymous Content, Smokehouse Pictures and Sky Italia, Catch 22 is set to premiere on Hulu in the United States next Autumn. In the cast – besides George Clooney as Colonel Scheisskopf - Kyle Chandler, Christopher Abbott and Hugh Laurie (the protagonist of the famous series Dr. House).
Local support to the production has been granted by Viterbo’s municipality in collaboration with the Tuscia Film Fest.
